In 2022, the China Human Resources team conducted a six-month leadership training program called The Amazing Race to advance leadership skills. One of the powerful outcomes was the outdoor-focused program, Club 1938. The Club aims to get employees outside while increasing knowledge of the outdoors, CSC Products, and improving cross-collaboration. At the end of March, Club 1938 had the first hiking activity of the year with the theme "Explore Nature”, marking the third of the program. Over 120 club members embarked on a 2-day trip in Tonglu of Zhejiang province. They spent the first day learning “Wilderness Survival” skills. Then, participants completed a 10km hike, experienced caving and collected the trash along the way in the spirit of “Protect our Roots.”

For over 20 years, Columbia Sportswear has been a proud supporter of Transition Projects through the Truckload of Coats donation drive, the Veteran’s Stand Down, and employee-led groups preparing and serving meals at Doreen’s Place. Columbia Sportswear was honored to receive the “Setting the Standard” award at this year’s Impact Gala hosted by Transition Projects. The Gala showcased the impact of community support for people experiencing homelessness. The event connects Transition Projects’ board members, community supporters and leaders, businesses, and corporations – who come together to celebrate the important work that has been done over the year. During the Store Leadership Conference, leaders participated in an onsite community give-back event. Our event space was full of leaders assembling sack lunches for 9 different non-profit organizations in the Portland area. In under two hours, retail leaders assembled 3,000 sack lunches.
